Week 8

• This week's objective: Complete and test scale model 2.
• This week we continued to complete the apparatus consisting of the K’Nex foundation for the water wheel and the Archimedes screw pump.
• In scale model 1, the screw was rolled by hand, so energy was flowing to a simple direction: hand→Archimedes screw pump→small water wheel. However, in scale model 2. the big water wheel (input) was bonded to the handle of the screw (output) in order to create a loop: small water wheel→big water wheel→Archimedes screw pump→small wheel. No matter how energy flow, it will always come back to the place they start. Therefore, energy can never escape from the loop. In this case, once there is an input to the model, the output will be the same as input and energy will keep flowing in the model, make it work forever.
• The final model is also expected to stand independently on the platform and keep a good stability in the water.
